Do you believe that your dream is possible? Do you believe that you are worthy of having it?
You will never achieve growth if you don’t truly believe that you can do it. That you can become whoever you choose to be.
“Knowing” that you are capable and aspiring to do something is half the battle. “Believing” you are worthy of what you desire sometimes takes a little work. It’s when we work through, and move past, our limiting beliefs that the magic happens.
If you think back to your earliest childhood memories, it’s likely you remember times when you were fearless, had big dreams and believed you could do anything, be anything and have anything you wanted. However, as you got older, you were introduced to an unending list of rules about what you “should” say, how you “should” be, and what you “should” do. You’re impacted by your family, media, friends… the list goes on and on. These likely resulted in you creating limiting beliefs that have held you back from your true desires.
It takes courage to dig in and to discover what’s holding you back plus, it takes a whole lot of love for yourself too.
Here are some helpful steps to identify those beliefs that may be limiting you:
Grab a journal, and start writing down beliefs that hinder you… and also beliefs that help you.
Write down beliefs about anything you feel strongly about and that influence your daily life.
Group your beliefs into different categories like finances, family, relationships, or health.
Examine which beliefs are helping you grow and which beliefs could be limiting you.
Check-in with yourself, are these beliefs truly YOURS, or are they someone else’s that you’ve taken on?
Where do you need to STRENGTHEN your belief in yourself?
What do you need to let go of?
In my signature talk “Who’s Voice is it Anyway?” I talk about the many voices inside of our head that contribute to our limiting beliefs and stop us from recognizing our true potential.
We have so many old stories running through our minds, that derail us from believing in ourselves. Most of these thoughts are unconscious, meaning, you don’t even know you’re thinking about them. When we hear that loop of comparison, judgment and blame going over and over in our heads, we assume those thoughts are true, instead of accepting them, take some time to examine them.
Look at your list of beliefs. Ask yourself, how did that belief get there? Who’s belief is it? Who’s voice is it that is telling you that you can’t be/do/have it?
Perhaps it’s what a childhood bully, parent, boss, or even your partner has said something to you in the past that made you lack belief in yourself. Questioning our thoughts and beliefs allows us to check in and see if they’re true or not, and gives us the ability to shift and change that belief into something that will support us instead.
It takes trust, to believe in yourself. To believe in possibilities. To live your best life.
When you take the time to invest in yourself and let go of limiting beliefs that held you back in the past, the sky is the limit.
You are here to live a happy, joy-filled life. Your potential is full of infinite possibilities!
